LA Kings defeat St. Louis Blues 3-1. Matt Greene scored his first playoff goal which just happened to be a shortie. Dustin Penner added an empty netter to ice the game. The Kings win a postseason game against the Blues for the first time in their ninth try.

LA Dodgers defeat Washington Nationals 4-3 (10). Matt Kemp ended the game by himself with a walkoff homer spoiling the Major League debut of Bryce Harper and the Dodger Stadium debut of Stephen Strasburg.

LA Angels defeat Cleveland Indians 2-1. The Angels are 1-0 in the Mike Trout era. Okay, he went 0-fer, but the Angels still won. Dan Haren went eight innings giving up the sole run while Scott Downs closed out the game for a jubilant (and rare) Angels' win.

Colorado Rapids defeat Chivas USA 4-0.

LA Galaxy tie FC Dallas 1-1.

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
