Denver Nuggets defeat LA Lakers 102-99. Andrew Bynum before the game said, "Close-out games are actually kind of easy." Easy enough for Bynum since he all but disappeared getting outplayed by JaVale McGee. McGee had 21 points and 14 rebounds while Bynum had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kobe Bryant did all he could with 43 points, but a last second three just rimmed out giving the Nuggets the Game 5 win.

Minnesota Twins defeat LA Angels 5-0. Dan Haren couldn't equal the feats of his teammate Jered Weaver. All five runs came off Haren in the 3 2/3 innings he pitched. Reliever David Pauley pitched four innings of scoreless relief, but the Angels' offense were shut out for the seventh time this season. Albert Pujols went 0-for-4 dropping his batting average to .190.

San Francisco Giants defeat LA Dodgers 2-1.

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
