LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Ring Giants

LA Dodgers defeat San Francisco Giants 6-1. The Giants yet again play defense best suited for the Benny Hill Show. In the second inning after Matt Kemp walked the Giants had him picked off attempting to steal second. Shortstop Miguel Tejada dropped the ball as he applied the tag. To make matters worse James Loney hit a line drive to second baseman Freddy Sanchez who couldn’t cleanly catch it. The ball dribbles off to centerfield and Kemp scores.

In the fifth inning, left fielder Pat Burrell did the honors as he tried to get a glove on Kemp’s single instead letting it go to the wall. Along with four other singles and a leadoff homer by Rod Barajas, the Dodgers broke the game open with a four-run inning. The bad part: when stealing third base Rafael Furcal broke his thumb.

The Dodgers tacked on a run in the seventh inning while Burrell atoned a bit in the ninth inning with a solo homer.

Cleveland Indians defeat LA Angels 4-0. Tyler Chatwood had a rough go of it in his first Major League start for the Angels. A solo homer by Asdrubal Cabrera in the first inning and a three-run bomb by Matt LaPorta in the second inning was all the Indians and their starter Mitch Talbot needed. But Talbot decided to pitch a shutout into the ninth inning being pulled out after giving up a double to Bobby Abreu to lead off the ninth inning.
