LAist Interviews a Pair of Socks: Meet Frenchie and Glamor Puss of Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today.

Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater premieres its first new production for 2013 on Saturday night at the Echo, recreating the pilot episode of the showAbsolutely Fabulous, which first aired on the BBC in 1992.

The L.A.-based theater troupe is owned and operated by Glamor Puss and Frenchie—two "lauded sock thespians"—were gracious enough to give LAist an interview (video above) about their work in bringing TV sitcoms to the stage; working with the cast from Ab Fab (including the tempestuous stars Edina Moonsoon and Patsy Stone); and where socks like to hang in LA.

Saturday night's show features an ensemble that includes Frenchie and Glamor Puss' alter egos Mark Hayward and Charley Knapp and socketeers Jennifer Kenyon, Stephanie Riggio, John McNight, Hadley Meares, Kestrin Pantera, Erin Parks, Guy Picot and Kevin Widener.
