Celebrate the shrinking summer days with the AMIA's latest "Something Old, Something New" night at the New Beverly. "Size Matters" when The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957), known for sci-fi existentialism and "giant" cats, blows up on the big screen alongside the Dennis Quaid-Martin Short-Meg Ryan actioneer Innerspace (1987). As with previous events in the series, both films screen in 35mm. If you can make it out tonight, all the better—living legend Joe Dante (director of Gremlins, creator of Trailers From Hell and no stranger to the New Bev) will appear to present his film Innerspace!

Speaking of presents, this year's Everything is Festival! is a true gift to fans of wild and woolly pop detritus. The second weekend kicks off at the Cinefamily with Yes, Madam (1985), a delirious delivery of female-fronted kick-assery. Like Gina Carano in Haywire earlier this year, Yes, Madam's Cynthia Rothrock is the real deal, boasting world championships and nearly 50 films under her black belts.

Everything Is Festival III: An Evening With Cynthia Rothrock (trailer) from Cinefamily on Vimeo.

Of course, Everything Is Terrible! and Cinefamily are best known for their quaint curations of curious clips. It's cat-scratch fever Saturday with "The Feline Gaze: The Art of the Cat Film", featuring Katie Hill (founder of the Internet Cat Video Film Festival), bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Lil Bub (via webcam) and the LA premiere of documentary short CatCam, in which an outdoor cat had a real cam placed in its collar. Stay in the backyard for "Outsider Filmmakers A Go Go!", celebrating those limited only by their imaginations and the blinks on the [rec] button.

Later that day, the masters come to play with the roundtable "Monsters of Found Footage", featuring TV Carnage, Animal Charm, the TV Sheriff and Craig Baldwin. Then, it's Everything is Terrible's own "The Rise and Fall of God", a collection so divine the copyright gods have deemed it unfit for mere mortals. Then, it's an extended edition of [adult swim]'s Off The Air with creator Dave Hughes. Considering the series usually airs at 3AM, this midnight show can also be called an early edition.

Everything Is Terrible is a creature of the internet, where Star Wars fan creations are almost as ubiquitous as cats and clips. In this tradition, Sunday morning brings the force of crowd collaboration with Star Wars Uncut. The epic fan film is a shot-for-shot re-creation of A New Hope edited from 500 contributions of 15 seconds each. Then, it's more clip connoisseurs, with programs led by Jeff Krulik (creator of Heavy Metal Parking Lot), the dynamic duo of Dan Harmon (Community) and Rob Schrab (The Sarah Silverman Program)...and you? The night closes out with a special Found Footage Battle Royale where 16 square off wielding only their crustiest VHS tapes and most embarrassing viral videos.
