Before you
Dear reader, we're asking you to help us keep local news available for all. Your financial support keeps our stories free to read, instead of hidden behind paywalls. We believe when reliable local reporting is widely available, the entire community benefits. Thank you for investing in your neighborhood.

Wondering what book to bring with you on your holiday vacation? LA librarians have you covered -- our friends at Fishbowl LA report that the local literary ladies and gents have released a list of the top books of 2011.

Their recommendations range from poet Meghan O'Rourke's memoir about losing her mother, to former World Bank economist Charles Kenny's non-fiction tome on global development, to former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan's personal account of fame and addiction.

In other words, there's something in there for everyone.
