Justin Bieber Busted On DUI, Drag Racing, Resisting Arrest Charges
Justin Bieber was arrested early Thursday in Miami Beach on suspicion of DUI, resisting arrest, and driving with an expired license after police pulled him over for drag racing. The 19-year-old pop singer was booked in jail after failing his sobriety test, and he admitted to drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana, and taking prescription meds, said Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez, according to CNN.
Around 4 a.m., police pulled over Bieber, who was allegedly racing a yellow Lamborghini with another driver in a red Ferrari, NBC Miami reported. The two drivers had been going at 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone in a Miami residential neighborhood.
"At first, he was a little belligerent, using some choice words questioning why he was being stopped and why the officer was even questioning him," Martinez told CNN.
According to police reports TMZ acquired, those "choice words" Bieber used included: "Why the f**k are you doing this?" and "What the f**k did I do? Why did you stop me?"
In addition to cussing out the police, before Bieber was given the pat-down, "he kept going into his pants pocket," and although initially listened to the officer's orders to put his hands on the car, he took them down, TMZ reported.
"When he opened up the window and confronted Mr. Bieber, he smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage," Martinez said.
Authorities reported 19-year-old Def Jam R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff was the person driving the red Ferrari and has been booked on DUI and street racing charges as well, according to NBC News and CNN.
Before the incident, Sharieff posted an Instagram photo of the Biebs with a girl TMZ has pointed out is model Chantel Jeffries.
He also posted this photo captioned, "Miami nights ridin thru yo city in that hot wheel":
NBC Miami posted this video a fan took of Bieber allegedly racing and then getting pulled over. They scream his name a few times throughout the clip:
Belieber fans might be doing their own kind of silent protest for their beloved singer:
