Jay Leno hasn't exactly been going out quietly from "The Tonight Show," dropping insults on NBC executives at every possible opportunity as they try to decide when Jimmy Fallon will take over his show and move the operation to New York.

But Fallon is taking the opposite route: According to The Hollywood Reporter, the current host of "Late Night" reached out to Leno in order to make the transition from one host to another as smooth as possible.

It's not clear what was said between the two men, but Fallon probably wants to ensure that what happened with Conan O'Brien and Leno -- in which O'Brien disastrously took over "Tonight" briefly in 2010, resulting in a feud between the hosts -- doesn't happen with him as well.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the takeover will happen sometime in 2014.
