After briefly being considered for the part, Jimmy Fallon has confirmed that he won't be hosting the 85th annual Academy Awards.

Speaking to Matt Lauer yesterday, Fallon said, "I'm not gonna do the Oscars...I was honored to be asked by the Academy, but it's not my year."

The LA Times broke the news last week that Fallon was possibly in talks with the Academy of Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to take over the role of host for next year's event, suggesting that then-AMPAS president Tom Sherak wanted him on board with Lorne Michaels as producer.

But there was some speculation that Fallon would never get the gig anyway, since his show is on NBC and the Academy Awards are aired on ABC -- and they have their own late night host, thankyouverymuch, by way of Jimmy Kimmel.
