Mazel tov to James Franco, who is now, according to Jewish religious doctrine, *officially* a man.
Variety reports that Franco's bar mitzvah was hosted by Hilarity for Charity, a nonprofit founded by Franco's buddy Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller Rogan. The event, held at the Hollywood Paladium on Saturday night, raised over $2 million in donations to help those with Alzheimer’s disease. Included in the festivities were performances by Miley Cyrus, who performed as "Miley Cyrustein & The Super Jews," and a mock circumcision performed by Jeff Goldblum.
"This bar mitzvah represents a fresh start for me," said Franco. "Everything I did prior to this moment I didn’t do as a man but as a mere child. Therefore, any behavior that might have been questionable at any time, just know I wasn’t thinking, I was just a boy with the cognitive capacity of a minor. I want to thank you all for coming and seeing me finally become a man."
