By Maddy KeavyREADING: We're in the dawn of a new era when internet writing is finally getting the attention it deserves. This afternoon the excellent news site TheEastsiderLA.com is hosting a reading based on the completely original work of its commenters. The themes of these unmoderated comments range from frustrations with parks to traffic to angst (so much angst!) over gentrification. The Eastsider has collected samples from the comment section of 2012 in "Unmoderated: A Reading of Eastider Comments." The premiere begins at 2 p.m. at the Taix Lounge located on 1911 Sunset Boulevard. The live-reading will be performed by readers and directed by Rory Mitchell. Admission is free, and more information can be found at The Eastsider LA.

FOOSBALL: Tonight is the 1st Annual Everloving Cup Foosball Tournament. It is being held at the clothing store Feal Mor in partnership with the independent music label Everloving. Feal Mor invites guests to the tournament that will be going from 7 until 10 p.m. Feal Mor is offering single or double registration for the tournament if you e-mail info@fealmor.com, but walk-in registration at the door is also available. The tournament will be held at 4206 Santa Monica Boulevard, and more information can be found by visiting the store's blog or calling (323) 661-0614.

CONCERT: The four-band concert at Alex's Bar in Long Beach is the perfect escape for a Saturday night. Bands include Portland band Guantanamo Baywatch, experimental rock band Wild Pack of Canaries, The Shrills and The Vivids. Doors open at 8 pm and the concert starts at 9 pm. The bar is located at 913 E Anaheim St. Tickets can be purchased online for $8 in advance or $10 at the door. For audiences who are 21 or older, Alex’s Bar online has ticket information or personal band pages can be accessed via Facebook.

WINE: Whether you're a wine connoisseur who wants to refresh your palette or you're just a beginner, check out Eat, Drink, Americano Los Angeles. This monthly course takes place today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m and will cover not only the basics of wine tasting, but what to pair it with, how it serve it, purchase it, and store it. The course will be held at Loft 218 at 530 Molino Street #218. Tickets can be purchased online, at Learn About Wine online or by calling (310) 451-7600.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
