LAist Film Calendar: Warning!!! Pedophile, Dr. Horrible & Plenty of Creeps

It's easy to write off Warning!!! Pedophile Released sight unseen as cheap exploitation. Besides all those exclamation marks in the title, there's the convenient release on the heels of Roman Polansky's high-profile arrest for child-rape, an appearance by porn star Joanna Angel & a lead actor coming off of Silent Night, Zombie Night and (ahem) Vaginal Holocaust. Never mind the accompanying Dakota Fanning vehicle Father Xmas (at one point rumored to be Fanning's own child-rape film Hounddog). But the film's trailer tells a different story, of disturbed teens, real tragedy & raw emotion that's more Larry Clark than Larry Cohen. Make up your own mind, and then fawn or fight with the cast and crew at the evening showings.
Speaking of cast & crew, the Egyptian has a couple treats. Felicia Day & Joss Whedon draw nerd love in support of strike-time-killer-turned-phenom Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog & MMORPG-comedy The Guild, while Fred Dekker draws my love for the director's cut of space-worm-squirmer Night of the Creeps. Helpful hint: if you're considering asking whether James Gunn's space-worm-shocker Slither ripped off Creeps, Dekker will shut you down. It's not true, and he's sick of hearing about it. They also play host to the most wonderful cast & crew of all - you & your friends - if you partake in their Haunted Hollywood scavenger hunt/video production, preceding The Goonies & The Lost Boys. Not to be outdone, New Beverly Midnights follows their strong showing last week with Dario Argento's Inferno; sadly, Argento isn't in attendance, but film writer/walking Wikipedia Tim Lucas (who likely knows more about the production than Argento at this point!) is, and so is actress Irene Miracle. It's probably easier to understand their accents anyway.
