Dark Horizons Still Doesn't Have the "Accepted" Review
On Thursday LAist reported that Universal was running a trailer for the soon-to-be released film "Accepted", whose sole critical raves were from one source, Paul Fischer of Dark Horizons.com.
At that time we could find no review on the website that stated that "Accepted" was a "total triumph" or "raucously funny". In fact the only place that we saw Fischer's praises for the film were on other blogs, where fellow critics were dissing Fischer.
The red flag went up when Universal seemed to have found only one writer willing to say that the film was good, but now it appears that Mr. Fischer is ashamed of what he wrote about the film, or the site has retracted his review. In that case, where is the new review? Or for that matter the old review? Or even any record via RottenTomatoes of anyone at Dark Horizons reviewing the film?
"Accepted" placed a respectable #4 in the box office this weekend, raking in $10+ million, definitely earning it more time in theatres, and therefore more airings of the trailer in question (or ones similar). Therefore, we ask Universal that unless Dark Horizons actually posts the review that "Accepted" is quoting, they should use different quotes from other critics in their upcoming trailers -- because at this point the studio is treading in what some may consider deception, if not pure lies.
Two things we'd never wish to accuse anyone in the film industry of being involved in.
