Design Geeks Rejoice! Creative Mornings Launches in LA

This story is free to read because readers choose to support LAist. If you find value in independent local reporting, make a donation to power our newsroom today.

2010/11 Bobby Solomon | Kitsune Noir/The Fox Is Black from LosAngeles/CreativeMornings on Vimeo.

Design geeks can stop drooling over the monthly videos from Creative Mornings in New York and Zurich, wishing they could attend a live event and fill out their own witty name tags because Creative Mornings has launched in Los Angeles.

Creative Mornings was started two years ago in New York by Tina Roth Esienberg, known to design-o-philes as Swiss Miss. What started off as a monthly gathering of "creative types" has grown into a must-attend creative event with free tickets selling out a few hours after they're posted.

The Los Angeles Chapter of Creative Mornings is overseen by Jon Setzen, Creative Director at Something Massive, and was kicked off in October with a talk by GOOD Magazine at Ford & Ching downtown.

November featured Bobby Solomon, brilliant mind behind must-read design and culture blog The Fox is Black. The video of his delicious talk was just released and will give creative Angelenos a taste of what's to come in future Creative Mornings.

The speaker for the December event will be announced soon and you can follow LA/Creative Mornings on Twitter to be sure you don't miss a chance at a coveted spot.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
