Coop's Crazy Cards
LA art legend Coop is about to come out with a killer set of playing cards than you can check out, virtually, in this online demonstration.
We were lucky enough to get a few answers out of the master (and even more after the jump):
LAist: The card set is very sexy with a heavy lean towards what appears
to be a darker-styled woman. Any models or actresses inspire you for this?
Coop: I think that they are more inspired by all the beautiful women I see
every day on the streets of L.A. This city is filled with gorgeous
women of every race, nationality, and body type. It's girlwatching
heaven!! (Of course, I guess a high proportion of those women ARE
actresses, so, whatever.) My taste in actresses runs more towards the
past. A threeway with Anita Ekberg and Anouk Aimée would be my dream
date. If Selma Hayek were in the room at the same time, naked,
pelting us with muffin tops, I'd not complain.
LAist: The Joker looks somewhat familiar. Who's the model?
Coop: That drawing is based on an insane drunken photo of my friend,

cartoonist (MAAKIES)Tony Millionaire. He's scaring the shit out of
another famous cartoonist, (UNDERWORLD) Kaz. Tony used to get drunk
at parties and remove his bridgework, but then he got implants. And
then he fixed his teeth!
LAist: The Devil in one of the suits is holding a martini. Is that his drink?
Coop: That's my drink. Musso & Frank's makes the best ones in L.A., BTW.

LAist: Oh you don't have to tell us that ;) You've been an LA blogger for some time now
- do you find that the
instant connection to your fans helps influence your new pieces in a positive way?
Coop: Well, It seems to influence my fans to buy my art! I've now sold two
bigass paintings through my
paintblogging. I think it's cool to have
a more direct connection with my fans. I get all kinds of (good)
crazy emails from my blog. Lots of cool interesting people out there.
Still not getting nearly enough naked photos from my female fans,
though. (C'mon ladies, help a brother out!)
