Anne Meara, Comedian And Mother Of Ben Stiller, Dies
Actress and comedian Anne Meara, who was married to Jerry Stiller and mother of Ben Stiller, has died at the age of 85.The Stiller family says Meara died on Saturday, but provided no further details. In a statement to the AP, the Stiller family said that Meara was Jerry Stiller's "husband and partner in life" and said, "The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long."
Stiller and Meara married in 1954 and were both alumni of the improv troupe now known as Second City. The two were popular on variety television shows during the 60s and 70s, including The Ed Sullivan Show.
In 1979, she had a recurring role for the first three seasons of the sitcom Archie Bunker's Place, a spin-off of the sitcom All In The Family. She later landed roles in the show ALF, All My Children, and more recently Sex And The City and The King Of Queens.
Meara is survived by her husband, children Ben and Amy Stiller, and several grandchildren.
