Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

One of our favorite oceanfront venues is Santa Monica's Annenberg Beach House, and they have just announced an upcoming opportunity to experience their gorgeous pool with your fellow grown ups for an adult evening's beach party.

Here are the details, from the Annenberg Beach House folks:

Lounge, swim or dip into a relaxing and fun-filled evening at the historic and heated pool, complete with ocean views. On Thursday, August 18, from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm, enjoy lounge music by the Martini Kings, games and complimentary shave ice. A light poolside dinner menu will be available from Back on the Beach Café featuring small plates, sandwiches and salads.

You've got to be 18 or older to attend, and the cost is $15 in advance. Parking is $5. You can get tickets ahead of time by calling Guest Services at 310-458-4904.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
