A woman died of injuries sustained early this morning after an apparent dispute with her boyfriend in East Hollywood, according to police. Police responded to reports of a dispute in the 500 block of Virgil Ave. in East Hollywood at about 6 a.m. this morning. When officers arrived, neighbors directed them to an apartment on the second floor, ABC 7 reports. There, police discovered a woman in critical condition. She later died as a result of her injuries, according to the Eastsider.

Investigators say that the call seems to have been the result of a fight between the woman and her boyfriend. They also said that the couple appears to have been visiting the apartment and did not live there.

Police do not have anyone in custody at this time. LAPD Lt. Joe Losorelli told KTLA that police still have "a lot of investigation to do" and are looking for "somebody of interest."

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of her next of kin, but she has been described as a woman in her 30s. Early reports indicated that the victim was shot, but LAPD Officer Ricardo Hernandez tells LAist that though the death is being investigated as a homicide, the cause of death is still under investigation.
