We need to hear from you.
Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

Here's your drinking holiday reminder that there are actual ramifications for guzzling green beer and Jameson then getting behind the wheel. St. Patrick's Day, one of America's most popular drinking holidays, is tomorrow. No matter your plans for corned beef and cabbage and Guinness, we'd like you to be safe and either appoint a designated driver, use a cab or ridesharing service or take the Metro. Metro has a few St. Paddy's ideas for you that are on convenient transit lines.

The LAPD has told us that posting these checkpoints actually helps reduce drunk driving by reminding people of real-life consequences.

So, here they are:

There will be two roving DUI patrol cars in Palmdale and Malibu.

There will be two checkpoints in Bellflower and Pico Rivera between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Police have not disclosed the exact locations of these checkpoints.

DUI/License Checkpoint at Spring Street and 7th Street from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

DUI/License Checkpoint at Highland Ave. and DeLongpre Ave. from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.

DUI Saturation Patrol in 77th Street Area from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

DUI Saturation Patrol in NoHo from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

And that's all they've released, but we suspect not all there will be. Be smart and be safe, and have a happy St. Patrick's Day.
