At about 5:00 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Silver Lake Boulevard near Scott Street, a motorist in his 20s crashed his truck into a parked car after he was shot in the face through the driver's side window of his vehicle, according to KTLA.

The condition of the victim, who did not have gang ties, according to police, was not immediately known. Paramedics on the scene who treated the man said "he was still breathing when they got there." Silver Lake Boulevard was shut down for several blocks in both directions.

The gunman was described as a "Latino man in his early 20s with black hair, a medium build." According to police he was driving a green Honda four-door sedan and used a .9 mm handgun. The suspect is on the loose and was reportedly seen fleeing the scene heading south on Silverlake Boulevard in the direction of the 101 Freeway.

Officials are investigating.
