Streets will be closed in Little Tokyo and the Arts District for a total of 55 hours this weekend, so plan accordingly. On Friday, starting at 9 p.m., Metro will close the streets around 1st Street and Alameda Street until Monday morning at 4 a.m. Metro crews will be working on relocating the Gold Line tracks and preparing for the Regional Connector tunnel. Earlier this month, the Little Tokyo/Arts District Metro Station was temporarily closed as a part of the same project.

According to Metro, Alameda Street will be closed between Temple and 3rd Streets, and 1st Street will be closed from Central Avenue to Vignes Street. Local access for businesses, emergency vehicles, and residents will be allowed at the following locations:

  • Temple Street and Alameda Street
  • 1st Street and Vignes Street
  • 1st Street and Hewitt Street
  • 2nd Street and Alameda Street

The Downtown Carmageddon will have a sequel the following weekend as well, when the streets around 1st and Alameda Streets will close for another 55-hour period starting Friday, February 5 at 9 p.m.
Metro's Little Tokyo/Arts District Station remains closed through March 21 (or when their work is done), with a bus shuttle providing Gold Line service between Union Station and the Pico/Aliso Station.
