Distraught Father Drives Into Oncoming Traffic After Hearing His Son Died In Traffic Accident
A father distraught that his son had been killed in an accident earlier today drove into oncoming traffic and died in a separate accident in Eastern San Diego County.
The tragic day for the Alpine family began when a woman Natalia Sambhi and her 16-year-old son Devon got into an accident. Witnesses said tire trouble caused Sambhi to lose control of the car and rollover, according to NBC San Diego. Devon was ejected from the car and died immediately.
Devon's father and Natalia's husband Sunil Sambhi got the news, and he made threats to the medical examiner's office. Later in the day, witnesses said Sambhi drove erratically and into oncoming traffic on I-8. He crashed head-on into a car. The people in the other car were moderately injured. Sambhi was airlifted to the hospital but he died.
Investigators are treating Sunil Sambhi's death as a possible suicide.
