Newport Beach Man Charged With Being A Dirty Diaper Dumper
A man from Newport Beach has been charged with creating a stink in Orange County.Tomoo Kawai, 67, is accused of dumping soiled adult diapers along the side of the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach, according to CBS Los Angeles. The dumped diapers have created a nasty stench in those upscale OC communities since the summer of 2011, but police thought it would be hard to find the culprit and catch him in the act.
But police got lucky and managed to find a dumped letter along with the diapers this September. They followed the address to Kawai's home and pulled him over. It turns out that he had a load sitting right there in the passenger seat, CBS LA reported.
Kawai is scheduled to be arraigned on December 17, and he could face up to six months in jail. Investigators still aren't sure why he dumped the diapers on the side of the road, instead of throwing them in his trash or hiring a service to take them away.
