The Los Angeles Police Department are investigating a likely gang-related shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old African American boy who was riding his bicycle in the Morningside Park area last night.The shooting occurred at about 7:25 p.m. Wednesday night around Saint Andrews Place and 87th Street. The suspect or suspects approached the teenager and opened fire. The LAPD say that the victim "was hit by the gunfire, then dropped his bicycle on the street and started to run. He collapsed around the 1800 block of 87th Street." The victim died of his injuries at the hospital.

Following the shooting the suspect or suspects fled the area. There is no description of the assailant(s).
