Following this month's deadly random shooting in Hollywood, even just the suggestion of an armed man running amok on the streets has local authorities on high alert. This morning, reports of a man "with a semiautomatic rifle and a knife on the eastern end of Sunset Boulevard in east Hollywood" led Los Angeles Police Department officers to investigate the scene, according to City News Service.

On the 4500 block of Sunset Boulevard, officers found a man, whose identity has not been released, who they believe is "mentally unbalanced." But it turns out the weapon he was carrying was just a toy pellet gun. He was detained by the LAPD. No further information has been made available.
