An unidentified man his crediting his ownership of a self-proclaimed "large gun" for helping him keep a trio of young would-be robbers at bay Wednesday afternoon. Here's what went down, according to CBS2: The homeowner was taking out the trash when he spotted three young men jumping the wall onto his property in the Wilshire-Crest area.

Not knowing if the intruders were armed, the homeowner realized he could possibly deter them if he brandished his weapon, so he ran into the house and pulled out his gun, which he then turned on the young men.

Two of the suspects fled, however one remained behind. He reportedly told the homeowner: "I'm just a kid."

The homeowner proceeded to use the gun to scare the crap out of the intruder:

"He got down, I told him to spread your legs, spread your arms, don’t move, and we’ll be fine,” the homeowner said. “And he said, ‘I won’t move’.”

The man did not fire the gun during the incident.

Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department arrived on scene and were able to take the detained suspect into custody, however the two who fled remain on the loose. Those two suspects could face trespassing charges.

CBS2 reports the homeowner's summarizing thoughts on the incident: “Wow….scary,” he said.
