Bicyclist Killed in Valley Hit-and Run

A bicyclist riding eastbound on Nordhoff Street in North Hills was struck and killed early this morning by a motorist who fled the scene. The victim, a 53-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to City News Service.
The impact of the collision threw the victim from his bicycle and into a planter in front of a nearby auto store, according to a news photographer who went to the scene at Nordhoff near Gaviota Avenue. Witnesses also say the rider bounced off the windshield of the vehicle that struck him.
The vehicle was described as a dark Ford or Chevrolet SUV. The driver fled the scene.
