Arrest Made in 4th of July Shooting Death of Teen Girl

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives say they have made an arrest in the Fourth of July shooting death of a 14-year-old girl who was killed while watching fireworks.The victim, high school student Unique Russell, was among a group of people gathered to watch some fireworks in South Los Angeles after 10 p.m. on the holiday night.

Gunfire erupted from nearby, striking Russell along with a 12-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man. Russell died soon after at the hospital, while the other two survived their injuries.

Two male black suspects were seen fleeing the seen.

The LASD are scheduled to hold a news conference later this morning to reveal details regarding the arrest and the case. At that time, authorities will share a photo of the suspect in custody.
