The LAPD responded to a pair of shootings last night within miles, and minutes, of each other in the East Valley last night. The first incident took place at around 12:40 a.m. on Chiquita Street in Studio City, says Studio City Patch. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the torso and is in critical condition; it is not gang-related, says LAPD, and appears to have no motive.

Minutes later, shots rang out in an alley near Valley Plaza Park in North Hollywood, reports North Hollywood-Toluca Lake Patch. A 20-year-old man ultimately died from his gunshot wounds; police suspect this shooting was gang-related, but say the two shootings are not related.
