Treat yourself because we made it to Friday. There's still a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms across the Southland from the coasts to the valleys and mountains, but otherwise expect a mostly cloudy day with slightly warmer temperatures.

Forecasters say that there's a greater chance of heavier rain caused by thunderstorms for the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountains.
Here are a couple of high temperatures expected for today.
- 80 degrees in Woodland Hills and the city of Santa Clarita
- 77 degrees in El Monte
- 71 degrees in Santa Ana
- 87 degrees in Coachella Valley
Tonight's lows will drop to the mid 50s and low 60s.
Meanwhile, poor air quality will continue to linger until 2 p.m. as three major wildfires continue to burn.
Weekend warmup
Enjoy the cool while it lasts. Temperatures will soon rise into the mid to upper 80s for the valleys across the Southland. Come Monday, we're looking at highs in the 90s for valleys and inland areas where places like Woodland Hills reach up to 98 degrees. The inland coast will also be warmer with a high of 87 degrees expected for downtown L.A.
