Your SoCal Weather Report For Monday, Feb. 12: Clear, Sunny Day

A map of the Southern California region shows daytimes highs. The map is colored in shades of orange, yellow and specks of green.

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

Plan for some outdoor time today because the sun is out. But not for long, with the cloudy weather set to return later this week.

Quick Facts

  • Today’s weather: Sunny, cool
  • Beaches: low to mid 60s
  • Mountains: The Santa Monica mountains will see temps reach high 60s except in the areas near the coast where temps will hit low 60s to high 50s.
  • Warnings and advisories: Frost

Temperatures today will be in the 60s for much of Los Angeles and Orange counties. In the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, temperatures will hit high 60s and low 70s. For those in the Orange County heading to the beach (because truly do not sleep on winters at the beach), bring a jacket because light winds of around 10 mph to 15 mph are expected later this afternoon.

But, in the Inland Empire, a frost advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. so be sure to bundle up.

This day in history

In 2001, a strong winter storm brought 5 feet of snow to Mountain high over a two-day period. On this day, 36 inches of new snow fell at the San Bernardino ski resort.

Things to do

The sunny skies make for the perfect weather to shop local for Valentine's Day goodies:

  • Studio City Pop Up Outdoor Market: Check out this market in Studio City (free admission!) for a wide selection of accessories and clothing. And you'll be supporting small businesses in the process.
  • If experiences are more your thing, check out Superbloom Outdoor Studios workout with your special someone. What better way to celebrate heart day than to get your heart pumping.

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor.
