In today's forecast, temperatures remain similar to Wednesday, but with cooler temperatures along the coast as another storm makes its way to the Southland this weekend.

The valleys and Inland Empire will still experience warm temperatures similar to yesterday, with highs in the upper 80s.

In the deserts, Apple and Lucerne Valleys will see highs in the low 80s, up to 97 degrees for Coachella Valley.

About that upcoming storm

More rain and mountain snow will make its way back to the Southland this weekend.

Forecasters say the rain might start as early as Friday night, but the main event will be on Saturday. We could see between a quarter inch to an inch of rainfall for most areas, and closer to two inches in the mountains and foothills.

As for snow, forecasters say a couple of inches is expected at higher elevations above 6-thousand feet for Saturday, but come Sunday night those snow levels could drop and affect the Grapevine portion of the 5 Freeway corridor.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
