Rain And A Dash Of Snow Are Coming This Holiday Weekend

More rain is on the way for Los Angeles this weekend—but don't worry, it probably won't put a damper on your Christmas.
Angelenos got a preview on Wednesday morning with a few scattered showers. Some showers, and even thunderstorms, are possible later this afternoon and into the evening. There's more to be expected, according to the National Weather Service, which says two systems are rolling through Southern California in the days leading up to Christmas, with the heavier rainfall to come on Friday and Saturday.
"Right now we have a very weak low pressure system approaching from the south," Bonnie Bartling, a weather specialist with the National Weather Service, told LAist. But, she added, "We have a significant, stronger storm coming from the northwest, Friday through Saturday." Bartling says that system won't be as bad as the storm that rolled through Los Angeles last week, with only a half-inch to an inch of rain expected in the greater L.A. area. Not only that, residents at elevated areas may even see a bit of snow. "Snow levels could be dropping [at elevations 4,000 feet and more] and it could affect travel on the Grapevine," she said. A third system is expected to roll through Sunday night and Monday as well.
Aside from rain, this weekend's system will also be bringing chilly temps, with Saturday night expected to hit the mid-40s. "You'll be getting your jackets back out—if you put them away," said Bartling.

Thankfully, Christmas will probably be dry if partly cloudy. And if it snows enough in our local mountains, Christmas in Los Angeles could be quite scenic.
