Charles Manson was reportedly transported on Tuesday from Corcoran State Prison to an unidentified hospital in Bakersfield, according to TMZ. He is being treated for an undisclosed ailment. Sources told the L.A. Times that Manson is “seriously ill,” but a spokesperson from the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed to the Times that Manson is still alive.

Manson, 82, is currently serving nine concurrent life sentences at Corcoran State Prison. He was convicted of conspiracy in the death of nine people who were killed by members of the so-called Manson family in 1969. He has been denied parole 12 times as of 2016, and has been in prison since 1971.

Krissi Khokhobashvili, a spokesperson for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said she was unable to confirm the news, as inmate health information is confidential under federal and state privacy laws.
