An accident just before 5:30 a.m. at Venice Way and Windward Avenue launched a speeding vehicle into the wall of an apartment building and crashing through a tenant's bedroom. Witnesses said the driver hit numerous parked cars and a tree before finally hitting the structure. The car came to rest inside a first-floor bedroom of sleeping resident, Alex Pundez. "Pundez said the car caught fire and the woman started screaming for help. He managed to crawl over the car and out of his apartment, and then knocked on neighbors doors to get them to call 911," reports KTLA. Firefighters extinguished the car blaze and the driver was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The crash is being investigated.
