A blue-haired vandalism suspect accused of defacing government buildings with anti-Donald Trump graffiti has been arrested.
On Sunday evening, a woman was caught on surveillance video spray-painting the walls of the Hall of Justice, Hall of Records, Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, and the Central Heating and Refrigeration Plant in downtown Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the suspect caused $9,000 in damage to the historical buildings. Lieutenant Mark Bock of the Sheriff's Department told LAist that the graffiti was "anti-Donald Trump" in nature, but when asked if there were any specific phrases they could release, he said, "Not at this time."
According to a press release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, LAPD officers were patrolling the area of 1st Street and Soto Avenue in Boyle Heights on Tuesday when they detained 37 year-old Victoria Jayne Bay for having an open container. The officers recognized Bay as the suspect wanted in a vandalism case, presumably from the blue hair, and contacted deputies who "positively identified" her as the vandalism suspect and subsequently arrested her.
Bay has been identified by authorities as a transient, and has been charged with felony vandalism. According to the L.A. Times, Bay was been previously jailed in 2004 for prostitution and earlier this year was arrested for public intoxication.
