It's that time of year again. When politicians tout the importance of cycling for five business days through a series of events. That began this morning with a downtown press conference encouraging Angelenos to give bicycling a try, or at least one day this week. Then comes tomorrow with the annual blessing of the bicycles (sort of likethe blessing of the animals).

Then on Wednesday and Thursday are actual biking events. The first with an organized morning downtown ride and then the county-wide bike to work day. On Friday, it is walk or bike to school day. And while Saturday has no official bike week activities, there's a lot going on in Pasadena.

Damien Newton at StreetsblogLA, who "rather have the City of Los Angeles produce a Bike Master Plan than plan a week of bike events," rounds up the events nicely from his transit-minded point of view. Metro and Pasadena also have websites with all the pertinent info.
