  • Put your hands in the air, wave 'em like you just don't care, Mayor! (Photo by current events via the LAist Featured Photos pool on Flickr) Leave it to a politician to come up with a very diplomatic playlist. LAT's Pop & Hiss asked Villaraigosa what he listens to on his iPod, and it turns out the Mayor likes "an eclectic mix" for when he's working out or entertaining at home: "classic and contemporary...
  • Photo courtesy UCLA Live. In the mood for something subversive? You're in luck. The ever-peculiar John Waters will be taking the Royce Hall stage on February 23rd as part of the ongoing UCLA Live season. Parents: you've been warned. Waters is best known as a charming (if eccentric) countercultural icon, having helmed such cult films as 1972's Pink Flamingos, Cecil B. Demented and the original Hairspray (which was turned into a hit Broadway show,...

Guetta calls himself Banksy's "biggest work of art," explaining that the elusive, anonymous British street artist who has been inundating L.A....

  • Reader @mrlongsworth Tweeted us this morning with what could be a fifth Banksy to pop up of late, and the second one with the crayon motif. Still not confirmed by Banksy's official website, the wall at Washington Boulevard and Compton Avenue is far south of the street artist's usual Hollywood/Melrose/West Hollywood domain. Do we have yet another Banksy piece to ogle? [UPDATE: It's confirmed. This, and 2 other pieces, are by Banksy]
