BEACH CULTURE
Donna Sternberg, a Santa Monica-based choreographer, holds a community dance workshop Perception, Movement, Memory tonight from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Annenberg Community Beach House. Both novice and experienced dancers or those just interested in learning more about a choreographer's process are welcome. She'll begin with exercises focusing on body awareness and then move on to other steps. Bring paper and a writing tool for notes/exercises and wear comfortable clothes. Free, but reservations recommended.
MOTH GRANDSLAM*
There are a few tickets left at the door tonight for the Moth's LA GrandSLAM Championship at the Echoplex. Hear the winners of the past 10 Los Angeles Moth StorySLAMS tell their stories. They'll duke it out with words to decide the winner. No scripts, no notes and no standup, but a night of great storytelling for sure. Stories begin at 8 pm. Tickets: $18.
LACMA
It's a Target Free Monday at LACMA, which means that there's free access to all museum galleries. There are a number of activities, including a performance by The Bohemians at 2:45 and gallery educators ready to answer questions in the new European galleries. LACMA closes at 8 pm tonight.
