  • When CicLAvia returns this October, it will be bigger — and organizers hope better — than before. Organizers unveiled the new route this week that includes the same 7.5-mile route from the last two events and new offshoots into Chinatown and the Fashion District.
  • There's some good news and/or bad news in the world of Los Angeles-based tattoo artist and eyebrow-raiser Kat Von D, however which category applies in either case is up to you. First, when it comes to her work life, Von D has one less gig on her agenda, after TLC announced they are ending her series "L.A. Ink" this season. The finale will air September 15th.
  • Actor Danny DeVito was honored with the 2,445th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, and while on the famous Boulevard for the event, he stopped to take some time to...hug a tree!
  • The Parents Television Council just released another one of its "reports" which is yet another thinly veiled call for censorship. This time Adult Swim is the target, yes, the network with the word "Adult" in its name. --- If you like baseball then you should watch "The Franchise," nuff said. --- All this and the TV Junkie Must-Watch Plan.
  • It’s been a long time since a movie has caused so much of an existential crisis within me. I think the last time that happened was with The Matrix 2, and the crisis was actually the bruising of what little intellect I had due to the absolute inanity-laden philosophical assault it took. But with Warrior, I really had to wonder if I am just a contrarian just for the sake of it.
  • This weekend, Kevin Smith comes to the New Beverly for his latest, Red State. Meanwhile, Laemmle Theatres comes to Lancaster. Will the Antelope Valley embrace the arthouse?
  • Your chance to see Hanson take the stage at the Sunset Junction Festival could be hanging in the balance if organizers don't cough up fees from last year's festival, according to the Los Angeles Times. Organizers are already selling tickets. But the city is withholding permits that would allow the show to go on, until the festival pays back $267,000 in fees for police staffing and police closures from last year's event.
  • There's no evidence that paid product placement has any benefit that exceeds regular ad buys - so why should advertisers pay the premium for it? --- The Paley Center has a new and amazing exhibit of just some of the Hollywood memorabilia that Debbie Reynolds has collected. --- More news tidbits and the TV Junkie Must-Watch Plan.
  • We met Paranormal EXP, one of LA's foremost ghost hunter squads, outside the Old Zoo in Griffith Park. Coming off the recent taping of an episode of Paranormal Challenge for the Travel Channel (airing August 26th) and a win at STU CON, Clare, Jason, and Marcus were happy to talk about some of their recent adventures as we wandered the empty cages and picnic benches on an all-too bright Sunday afternoon.
  • Just as we predicted, "Breaking Bad" is staying at AMC until its conclusion. There was no way AMC was going to lose this show, and the network is doing fine, thank you, with steady increases in viewership. --- We worry about Brody Stevens, we're happy for Eddie Pepitone. --- All this and the TV Junkie Must Watch Plan for tonight.
