Best things to do this weekend in Los Angeles and Southern California: June 28 - 30

If you didn’t live here, you’d think we were just holding events outside all year long. But we all know that’s not true; it takes till mid-June for everything to open up, get to the weeks where it’s warm enough to wear shorts at night, and enjoy Southern California at its most vibrant.
This week has tons of outside events in store, from Jazz at LACMA with soulful singer Sharon Marie Cline to the X Games at the beach in Ventura. A Hollywood Fringe Festival performance takes advantage of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and you can take a birding and story walk with your kids at the Audubon Center in Debs Park.
For more to explore, check out LAist.com where you can learn about the latest venue updates for the 2028 Olympics, read about how one artist turned Topanga’s landslide into a living canvas, and plan ahead — LAist is hosting Fran Lebowitz at the Montalbán in September, so get your tickets now.

In an ode to Hollywood itself, Evans says she was inspired by the location. “I crafted the performance after spending days moving through the tombstones at Hollywood Forever, and feeling the timely reminder that love and connection are at the center of our humanity,” Evans said. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
