There's more rain on the way for Southern California starting Wednesday, but there's still plenty of indoor art and fun to be had — including some early Valentine's Day delights! From dancing it all out at the Mint on Wednesday night to getting tattoos while enjoying delicious bites in Chinatown, this week has plenty of options for finding entertainment without getting soaked.

'Undiminished: Heroines of California Art'
-
Hilbert Museum at Chapman University
167 N. Atchison St., Orange
It should come as no surprise that California’s art scene in the 19th and early 20th centuries was a little more progressive than our East Coast and European counterparts and allowed women to participate in salons they were excluded from in other places. Chapman’s Hilbert Museum celebrates this legacy with a new exhibit about the women of California’s art clubs, including works by Elsie Palmer Payne, Elanor Colburn, Henrietta Berk, Mabel Alvarez, Betye Saar, Burr Singer, Ruth Peabody, Patssi Valdez, Agnes Pelton and more.

Now, Camerata Pacifica is honoring Schoenberg’s legacy with several semi-staged performances of his masterwork "Pierrot Lunaire," featuring celebrated German soprano Sarah Maria Sun.
It's at the Huntington on Tuesday night, and then moving to The Colburn School on Thursday, Feb 13.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.
But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
