A look at listening trends in music and podcasts in 2025

Listen 15:30

Spotify Wrapped is finally out, naming the year’s top songs and podcasts on the platform… for you individually, and across the globe. Bad Bunny has been crowned Spotify’s most-streamed artist, dethroning the long-reigning Taylor Swift who came in at number two, followed by The Weeknd. The top podcast was “The Joe Rogan Experience,” and the most streamed book was Rebecca Yarros’ “Fourth Wing.” We want to hear from you. What did you find surprising about your wrapped analysis? Call us at 866-893-5722 or email us at atcomments@laist.com. Joining us to unpack this year’s listening trends and discuss her article on Spotify Wrapped is Madison Malone Kircher, reporter covering internet culture for The New York Times.

AirTalk Live in Rancho Mirage: History of arts & entertainment in the Coachella Valley

Listen 33:51

Host Larry Mantle spoke with a panel of guests about the art, culture and history of the Coachella Valley for our final AirTalk 40th event of the year. With a panel of 4 guests, we spoke about the entertainment history of the Greater Palm Springs area, which centers around the historic Plaza Theatre. As the years have gone on, we’ve also since seen modernist architecture take hold in the area, including with some of the historic celebrities that lived in the area. And to get into the contemporary entertainment scene, we dug into the world of live events and how festivals like Coachella have helped introduce the area to more than just Californians. Joining us for this panel: Jim Cook, historian and board member for The Plaza Theatre; Lisa Vossler Smith, CEO of Modernism Week; Skip Paige, owner of several local restaurants and former COO of Goldenvoice; and Adam Levy, owner and executive producer of Take Five Entertainment.
