A Day on the Set of a Porno Movie (SFW)

Part of an ongoing series.
LAist has been a longtime fan of Vivid-Alt (MySpace). Since its creation in 2006, the Vivid Entertainment imprint has released 18 movies and utilized an all-star roster of directors that includes Vivid-Alt head Eon McKai (MySpace), photographers Octavio "Winkytiki" Arizala (MySpace) and Dave Naz (MySpace), artist Vena Virago (MySpace), and pornstar Kimberly Kane (MySpace). 2009 looks to be its biggest year to date, with 30 nominations at last month's 2009 AVN Adult Movie Awards, the release earlier this month of Kane's Live In My Secrets, and ambitious plans by McKai to expand the Vivid-Alt brand online.
So when McKai and pornstar Andy San Dimas (MySpace) invited us to be an exclusive witness to the first day of shooting of McKai's latest feature On My Dirty Knees last September at a Downtown studio, needless to say, we were there. The shoot was the direct opposite of Digital Playground's epic blockbuster Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge, as there was a only skeleton crew present -- with McKai working as the porn equivalent of Robert Rodriguez, Sarah as his assistant and behind-the-scenes cameraperson, and a makeup and hair stylist -- and the dialogue was mostly improvised.
Unfortunately, photos were not possible during filming due to the loudness from the camera shutter, but the sex scenes between San Dimas and co-star Alec Knight were vigorous and lasted several hours. And yeah, it was hot.
Apart from the trailer and a description that it's "a stark glimpse into the post-alt generation and a world of sexuality," not much is known about the movie. But as Fleshbot so eloquently stated last December, "who cares?"
Tonight, Vivid-Alt celebrates the release of On My Dirty Knees with a party at The Echoplex (MySpace), which is also the night of Miss Kitty's Parlour 7th Anniversary Ball. There will be a cover charge after 10:00 PM.
Special thanks to Eon McKai, Andy San Dimas, and Vivid-Alt.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
