Today marks the eighth anniversary of the day NASA's rover Opportunity landed on Mars in search of water and other evidence of life on the Red Planet. The rover was only supposed to last 90 days, so we can't even begin to imagine the sort of existential crisis Opportunity is wrestling with—especially with a fully-loaded second generation rover headed for the planet.

But for today we'll use Opportunity's Martian anniversary as an excuse to view a few stunning pictures from the rover and HI-RISE, the satellite that has been working in tandem with the rovers.
