J.A.M. SESSION
The Ford Amphitheater is holding one of its free, interactive J.A.M. (Jazzed and Motivated) Sessions tonight at 7 pm. Learn to strum the ukulele or hula from Kumu Hula Keali’I Ceballos of the LA- based Hula Halau Keali’I O Nalani.

MOVIE
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences continues its summer screening of film noir classics from the 1940s. The films included in the program were nominated in the writing categories. Tonight’s film is Body and Soul with John Garfield as a boxer entangled with gangsters. The feature will be preceded by a specially selected noir-ish cartoon short. 7 pm. Tickets: $5.

VODKA
Larry Nicola, owner of Nic’s Beverly Hills, celebrates 30 years in the restaurant biz with a Vodkamentary menu: a vodka flight of Żubrówka, Potocki & Luksusowa Vodka for $15 or a luxury flight of U'Luvka, Chopin & Kauffman Vodka for $30. There’s also a three-course prix fixe menu available for $30. The tastings are available through Aug. 30.

LEARN*
There’s a panel discussion on memoir writing at 826LA West in Venice for adults tonight at 7:30 pm. The panelists-- Brooke Berman, Meghan Daum, Mark Salzman and D.J. Waldie--will talk about how they got started, writing habits and inspiration. Other topics will include business side of writing and how to get an agent. The evening will be moderated by Joshuah Bearman. $25. Proceeds benefit the literary organization.
