    Quick Facts
      • Today’s weather: Warm, windy, sunny
      • Beaches: 60s-70s
      • Mountains: 60s-70s
      • Inland: 70s-80s
      • Warnings and advisories: Red Flag warning, High Wind warning

Good morning and happy Election Day! It's going to be another windy day so hang in there and don't get blown away.

We're looking at similar daytime highs from yesterday — upper 60s to low 70s for the beaches, mid 70s for the inland coast. Temperatures for the valleys won't go any higher than 80 degrees. Meanwhile, high desert temperatures will reach the mid 70s, and up to 83 degrees in the low desert.

Tonight will be chilly, so if you're standing in line at the polls, bring a jacket — we're looking at low 60s, then down to the mid 50s overnight.

    Windy week ahead

Today's windy conditions won't be as strong as what's in the forecast for the rest of week. A wind advisory is in effect today for the Antelope Valley and 5 Freeway corridor starting at noon until midnight.

But with stronger winds expected for tomorrow, forecasters have issued a red flag warning for most of the Southland — Ventura, L.A., Orange counties and the Inland Empire valleys and mountains. The red flag warning goes into effect 4 a.m. Wednesday until 6 p.m. Thursday. That means there's a greater risk of fire weather and a possibility of power safety shutoffs.

Meanwhile, in the San Luis Obispo mountains and in Santa Barbara County, that red flag warning will go into effect today at 4 p.m. and is expected to remain in place until 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters also anticipate strong crosswinds along the 118, 210 and 101 freeways. If your daily commute goes through any of those freeways, here are some tips for driving safe:

    • Make sure you maintain a safe distance from high-profile vehicles
    • Look out for any fallen trees, powerlines or debris
    • Keep that 10 and 2 position on the steering wheel for a firm grip
    • And be extra cautious on bridges and overpasses.
