    Critical fire danger remains despite rain

    Topline:

    Despite the recent rainfall, the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument are closed to the public through Jan. 31 because of critical fire danger, officials said Monday.

    What it means: The public is not allowed to enter the forest areas, even on roads, trails or to pass through — that includes those with a California Campfire Permit.

    What happens if I am on the forest grounds: An individual could be fined up to $5,000, or up to $10,000 for an organization. Violators could also face up to 6 months in prison.
