Yet another woman has come forward to accuse Roman Polanski of sexually assaulting her while she was a teenager.

Renate Langer, a former German actress, reported to Swiss police last week that Polanski had sexually assaulted her in 1972 when she was 15 years old, the New York Times reports. Langer alleges that Polanski, whom she met while working as a model in high school, raped her on two separate occasions at his homes in Gstaad and Rome. Langer, now 61, stated in an interview that she thought Switzerland's elimination of a statute of limitations on child sex abuses would allow her complaint to be investigated, but found that the law applied only to cases more recent than hers.

In addition to Langer and Samantha Geimer, two other women—British actress Charlotte Lewis and a woman who identified herself solely as Robin M.—have alleged that Polanski sexually assaulted them when they were 13 and 16 years old, respectively. "I'm speaking out now so that Samantha and the world will know that she is not the only minor Roman Polanski victimized," Robin said when she made her allegations public at a press conference in August. Two months later, Langer told the New York Times that her decision to speak out against Polanski was partly inspired by Robin's statement.

Polanski, now 83, has been living in Europe ever since he famously fled Los Angeles prior to his sentencing for the rape of Geimer in 1979, and has yet to respond to Langer's allegation. Luckily for Polanski, there's no reason to believe a fourth accusation of sexual assault against a teenage girl will get in the way of his flourishing film career.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
