Authorities Investigate Human Skull Found In The L.A. River

Authorities received a call Sunday morning of a human skull in the Los Angeles River, prompting an investigation by authorities into the events leading to this discovery.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detectives were called to the scene around 9:30 a.m. this morning when a man and a woman found the remains while walking along the river. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Department, the skull was located in the city of Maywood just north of Slauson Avenue, west of the Long Beach Freeway (the 710), and east of District Boulevard in Bell.
At this point, early in the investigation, detectives have only confirmed that it is a human skull. No other information is known, including the sex or identity of the victim, how long the remains had been there, or what the cause of death was.
